Established in the early 1920s (making it one of Pennsylvania's oldest courses), Somerset's straightforward yet diverse layout means no two shots are ever the same. Some holes offer wide-open fairways that allow for a little inaccuracy off of the tee with relatively no repercussions, while some are so tightly lined by mature trees that inconsistent golfers are better off clubbing down than risking a lost ball. Water is present on the course, and should be avoided at all costs, but is less of a constant threat than the large white bunkers that protect nearly every green. Speaking of greens: You’ll want to bring your putter’s “A” game when you visit Somerset as many of the putting surfaces feature plenty of undulation and multiple tiers – making an accurate read and a properly struck stroke your best weapons against the dreaded three-putt.

Somerset Country Club features a complete practice facility including full-service driving range, putting green, and a short game area to help you work on all aspects of your game. The clubhouse houses one of the area’s best pro shops which always carries the latest equipment and apparel from some of the biggest names in golf, and several dining options including a casual lounge, a ballroom with piano music, and a gorgeous porch overlooking the grounds.
