Frankfort Commons Golf Course
Play a piece of golf history with today’s feature: $20 for 18 Holes with Cart at Frankfort Commons Golf Club in Frankfort near Lafayette ($48 Value. Good Any Time until July 1, 2025!)
Located in the heart of Gem City, today’s feature course, Frankfort Commons, has spent the last 90 years setting the standard for championship golf in the Hoosier State. Built in 1926 under the brilliant design eye of Charles Maddox – one of the Midwestern golf’s defining architects – Frankfort Commons’ impressive and often deceptive layout is certainly the highlight course of Clinton County.
Designed to be playable for golfers of all skill levels, yet challenging enough for even those with a scratch handicap, Frankfort Commons’ 18 holes are pure parkland-style bliss. Playing just over 6,300 yards from the back set of tees (of which there are four), the main areas of challenge here come from the fertile Indiana landscape and include towering mature Oaks and Pines, hidden mounds and elevation, and of course, the ever-present waters of Prairie Creek. The man-made portions of the course – the tees, fairways, and greens – are always in impeccable shape, and add yet another layer of challenge to this already impressive layout.
Speaking of the greens: smart players will take special care when approaching their final strokes on every hole. The greens at Frankfort are fast, very well undulated, and are known for their famous double breaks and slippery slopes – not to mention the many protective sand bunkers present throughout. No low round at Frankfort Commons comes without a strong showing with your short game and a successful round of putting, so be sure to put in plenty of time at the practice green to give yourself the best shot – no pun intended.
Along with the newly revamped golf course (thanks to new management), you’ll definitely want to stop into the updated pro shop. Fully stocked with some of golf’s best brands, you can upgrade your equipment, improve your apparel, or stock up on accessories before or after your round.
With a spectacular golf course laid out on one of the area’s most gorgeous pieces of land, the chance to visit Frankfort Commons is one no golfer should miss – reserve your round now!
