Built in 1926 under the brilliant design eye of Charles Maddox – one of the Midwestern golf’s defining architects – Frankfort Commons’ impressive and often deceptive layout is certainly the highlight course of Clinton County.

Playing just over 6,300 yards from the back set of tees (of which there are four), the main areas of challenge here come from the fertile Indiana landscape and include towering mature Oaks and Pines, hidden mounds and elevation, and of course, the ever-present waters of Prairie Creek. The man-made portions of the course – the tees, fairways, and greens – are always in impeccable shape, and add yet another layer of challenge to this already impressive layout.

Speaking of the greens: smart players will take special care when approaching their final strokes on every hole. The greens at Frankfort are fast, very well undulated, and are known for their famous double breaks and slippery slopes – not to mention the many protective sand bunkers present throughout. No low round at Frankfort Commons comes without a strong showing with your short game and a successful round of putting, so be sure to put in plenty of time at the practice green to give yourself the best shot – no pun intended.
