Sycamore Hills Golf Club
The first tee can be intimidating if you don’t know which way the ball is going to go before you get there. With today’s “Shot of the Day” you will have no excuse for needing two off the first tee: 18 holes with a cart and a small bucket of balls to warm up with at Sycamore Hills Golf Course in Macomb Township. Proudly owned and operated by the Schwark family since its opening in 1991, Sycamore Hills is truly a full-service golf club.
This 27-hole facility, with its velvet bentgrass greens and fairways, snakes its way around the North Branch of the Clinton River. The winding river’s imposing presence is felt on all three of Sycamore Hills’ nine-hole courses, presenting players with different shot options regardless of how often they come out to play. Though the three nines have the river in common, they all possess different identities that you’ll come to know very well.
The North Course plays 3,118 yards from the back tees and gives golfers the opportunity to score early with its classic risk-reward, drivable par-fours. The West Course, on the other hand, couldn’t be more polar opposite with its starting holes: Playing 3,159 yards from the back tees, the first four holes provide a tricky combination of distance and water that is begging to be solved. These are the toughest holes of the West Course. Luckily, this Jerry Matthews course was designed with fairness in mind and players have the opportunity to make up for the first four with the last five. Finally, we come to the South Course, home to the par-five third hole, which previously has been featured in “1001 Golf Holes You Must Play Before You Die.” You’ll play around 3,149 yards from the back tees and can expect a fantastic experience. With the river coming into play on almost all holes, the South Course takes full advantage of its natural terrain. Again, with fairness in mind, there are four sets of tees to choose from, depending on the sort of challenge you seek.
Some fantastic additional features of Sycamore Hills include its 300-yard, 18-tee driving range and Pro Shop, where you’ll find a knowledgeable and courteous staff that keeps the Pro Shop well-stocked with top brands. The staff can assist you with everything from PGA-certified lessons to setting up golf outings to joining a weekly league. And if you love food and drink, you do not have to go any farther than Sycamore Hills’ full-service restaurant overlooking the course. The restaurant features a premium bar and an inventive kitchen staff always trying to keep the menu new and varied. The friendly staff goes above and beyond to make sure your time there is a memorable one.
Finally, the 8,000 square-foot banquet center at Sycamore Hills is a year-round facility that can generously accommodate up to 350 people for one event and may be divided for smaller events. With panoramic views of the golf course and award-winning chefs, it is truly a beautiful backdrop for any special occasion, so feel free to inquire and receive a fast response.
When all is said and done, we at GroupGolfer feel that our subscribers will get an excellent value from Sycamore Hills and look forward to hearing about the great experience you had during your visit there.
