Thornapple Creek Golf Club, designed by Mike Shields in 1979, provides everything that you could ask for in an 18-hole, par-72 facility: Gorgeous scenery, ponds and rolling hills, well-groomed fairways and large undulating greens make your acquaintance as you make your way around the challenging but playable course. Playing its longest from the tips at 6,538 yards with a course/slope rating of 71.7/132 and its shortest from the forward tees at 4,825 yards with a course/slope rating of 69.1/116, the course can set up for a challenge if you so choose, but it also allows for a relaxed round of golf for all skill levels.

You'll see that Thornapple Creek Golf Club showcases the beauty of solid golf course design, particularly the par-5 ninth hole. The hole plays downhill after the tee shot to a sloped fairway and as you proceed to your next shot, please take a moment to admire the view. The layout of the hole tempts you to go for the green in two, but beware the greedy bunkers on the left and the pond and willow tree on the right — they may just make you think twice about playing the hero. It is a spectacular finish for the front nine. The elevation changes throughout the course will make you feel as if you are playing up north and the well-groomed fairways and greens and nicely landscaped tee boxes will leave you with a private-course impression.

In addition to the course itself, a well-maintained grass tee driving range, chipping area with bunker and a putting green are all available for you to fine tune your game. And it will be hard to miss the 7,000 square-foot log cabin-style clubhouse with its well-appointed Pro Shop, a restaurant that seats up to 100 and a fully stocked bar that seats up to 30 people. If you feel like watching fellow golfers finish up on the 18th green, head outside to the patio where you're welcome to sit back and enjoy the outdoors as summer begins to draw to a close.
