Otsego Club and Resort
We have all heard of the "Gaylord Golf Mecca" and here is a great chance to witness the unbelievable 20-mile views from the course with today’s feature: $25 for 18 holes with a cart at the Tribute or Classic course at the Otsego Club and Resort in Gaylord ($85 Value. Expires June 5, 2011.)
Recently named the "8th Best Public Golf Course in Michigan" by Michigan Golf Magazine, the Tribute is a 2002 Robbins/Koch design that takes you on a 1,100-acre tour of the majestic Sturgeon River Valley, just one mile from downtown Gaylord. Choose from four or six tee boxes, depending on the course, that accommodate all levels of play, and bask in the sheer magnificence of the elevation changes, natural forestry and the flowing Sturgeon River Valley that delight every player.
The Tribute has more than one signature hole. Every trip from the last green to the next tee unveils elevation changes and exciting new golf experiences. Nearly every tee is elevated, with #3, #6, #11, #14, #16 and #18 being the most stunning: From the tees of the 430-yard, par-4 #3, players can see the horizon, over 30 miles away. The green complexes are spectacular from hole to hole with huge undulating greens, and the course yardages range from 5,085 yards from the forward tees to a robust 7,347 yards from the tips.
The Classic was designed by perhaps the country's finest golf course architect of his time, William H. Diddel, and became the founding course of the Gaylord Golf Mecca. The traditional design of The Classic provides a no-gimmicks honest approach to the game, making it a favorite among golf course traditionalists. The Classic provides much needed relief from some of the long and demanding golf courses that the make up the Gaylord area. Measuring just 6,348 yards from the tips, the fairways are wide and the greens are quick. The signature hole, #18, is a par-4 measuring 310 yards from the back tees that has players hit from one ski slope to another. A glance back from the green offers the same 20-mile panoramic view as the historic main lodge.
The Otsego Club offers golfers from all over a first-class facility with more than just golf and drinks. With over 100 richly appointed guestrooms and suites and restaurants like the Pontresina Steakhouse serving international creations, you may find yourself in Golfer's Dreamland, never wanting to wake up.
