Diamond Springs Golf Course
Get ready to head south of Grand Rapids, north of Kalamazoo and east of Holland into the one and only Allegan State Game Area for today’s feature: 18 holes with a cart and a small bucket of range balls at Diamond Springs Golf Course in Hamilton near Grand Rapids ($40 Value. Expires May 10, 2011.)
Diamond Springs Golf Course was born into the beautiful wilderness of the Allegan State Game Area. Spread out over 250 acres of oak and pine-clad sand hills, Diamond Springs Golf Course has been turning out quality rounds since its completion in 2002 and is known by many as one of Michigan’s hidden gems. This par-72 stretches to a very respectable 6,803 yards from the tips with a course/slope rating of 71.8/127. The challenging links-style design allowed for the removal of most of the rough — which sounds great on a normal day — but beware that other dangers loom in its place. Numerous bunkers and large, undulating greens will keep you on your toes. Both challenging and breath-taking, the first nine holes offer long greens and interesting topography, while the back nine revolves around a stunning ravine that is guaranteed to get your attention. With careful planning, hopefully you'll even spare your ball. The final stretch of holes allow for one of the most fun and exciting finishes you will find.
Before your round, make sure to take advantage of the putting green and use the included small bucket of range balls at the driving range. After your round, you can relax in the beautiful English-style clubhouse where you'll find the golf shop and a pavilion grille. The Grille is a perfect spot to enjoy a sandwich and a beverage while tallying up your scores and planning your next trip out to this absolute gem.
