The Meadows at Grand Valley State University
The Meadows at Grand Valley State University was designed by environmentally aware architect Dr. Michael Hurdzan, the 2007 winner of the prestigious Donald Ross Award from the American Society of Golf Course Architects, and completed in 1994. The Meadows is a Golf Digest four-and-a-half star facility that has been host to several NCAA men's and women's national championships over the years.
Playing as long as 7,060 yards from the tips with a course/slope rating of 74.2/133, this links-style wonderland has a rotation of holes that will throw a little bit of everything at you. With five sets of tees available, all skill levels will find a comfortable tee box to play from, but no matter where you start your holes from, you'll have to manage your game masterfully to get to the finish with your round intact. Wetlands and well-bunkered greens make clear thinking a priority — very appropriate, given the course's setting in a university and all. Don’t worry about getting bored with your subsequent visits, either. The conditions are always good and the variables the course throws at you makes every experience a unique one.
The Meadows at Grand Valley State University is well-known for its state-of-the-art practice facilities, which you'll be able to experience for yourself first-hand with the included bucket of range balls. The massive driving range well past the length required and is divided into two sections, one for normal use and the other designated for use by The Meadows Learning Center. If you've been feeling anxious about your game lately, now is the perfect time to arrange for a private lesson with one of the Learning Center's Teaching Professionals before your round.
Each 50-minute lesson utilizes video feedback and, if desired, can touch on every aspect of the game: Driving, ball-striking, pitching and putting. The teaching professionals at The Meadows Learning Center understand that golf is an individual sport and will tailor your session at this unique facility to your personal needs. And if you feel like you're running on empty after your round, head over to The Meadows Grille to relax and recharge. Between The Meadows Practice Facility and The Grille, you'll have plenty to look forward to without even thinking about eighteen holes of golf!
