Whispering Pines Golf Club
Not many people can say they’ve played a round of golf too close to Hell. Well, here’s your chance, as you’ll find today’s featured GroupGolfer course just six miles east of Hell, Michigan: $19 for 18 Holes with Cart at Whispering Pines Golf Club in Pinckney ($45 Value. Expires July 15, 2011.)
Whispering Pines Golf Club is known as "Livingston County’s Best Kept Secret" — until now, that is. We know our GroupGolfers will love the unique design and up-north feel of this course, making them come back for round after round. The 18-hole, par-71 is located about 10 miles north of Ann Arbor, just far enough to give golfers the peace and quiet they crave. The Don Moon design weaves in and around a quiet subdivision, giving the course a one-of-a-kind layout with a few holes that will have you scratching your head.
As a shorter course, Whispering Pines offers 6,372 yards from the back tees with a 71.1 and 136 course and slope rating, respectively. Golfers rave over the well-kept bentgrass throughout the course, giving players the advantage on the greens. The tight fairways are lined with mature pines, offering a beautiful landscape — with a price. If you’re not a straight shooter, you might be taking a quick hike into the woods to fetch your ball here and there.
With every hole at Whispering Pines presenting a different challenge, the course is suitable for players of every skill level. The club even offers a junior program to encourage golf at a young age while reinforcing the family aspect of the game. You will be impressed by the polite and helpful staff on the course and off. Enjoy amenities like the 27,000 square-foot club house and two putting greens available for use before and after your round.
Don't forget — after playing 18 at Whispering Pines, be sure to swing by the "Welcome to Hell" sign for some fun pictures that’ll be good for a laugh or two at the next family gathering.
