La Purisima Golf Course
If you’ve been waiting for the chance to enjoy a jewel of a course, wait no more — it’s time for La Purisima Golf Course: $49 for 18 Holes with Cart and Range Balls at La Purisima Golf Course ($115 Value. Expires August 31, 2011.)
Located near Lompoc, La Purisima Golf Course is your chance to get your golf on right in the midst of Santa Barbara's Wine Country. And if the winning combination of golf and wine still hasn’t sold you, consider the fact this course is a masterpiece. Famous golf course architect Robert Muir Graves teamed with Kenneth Hume Hunter, Jr. in 1986 to "develop the finest pure test of golf he could imagine."
"Outstanding, an excellent value... A total hidden gem... A nice setting with spectacular vistas and rolling hills." — Golf Digest, Best Places to Play
Upon the 309 acres of rolling, scenic, sand hills, Hunter designed La Purisima Golf Course with the skills used for his other notable courses, Sandpiper Golf Course in Goleta and Hunter Ranch in Paso Robles. And to top it all off, there’s no commercial development or housing surrounding the course, so it’s all about the game.
So what kind of game can you expect? The folks at La Purisima say you can look forward to "a challenging test of skill and character (which) rewards the bold and leaves the recently-hooked newcomer loving the game even more. It is beautiful in its naturally undulating landscape, challenging in its hole designs, with tees never far from the preceding greens." So there you have it — a challenge and a chance to use the word "undulating."
And just in case you’re waiting on one more fancy statistic to seal the deal, try this: La Purisima has twice received four-and-a-half stars from readers of Golf Digest, including the 2004 poll in which only the famed Pebble Beach ranked higher!
