Ocala Palms Golf & Country Club
If you’re tired of courses that offer up little but bland fairways and boring views, it’s time to tee off at today’s feature: $18 for 18 Holes with Cart and a Large Bucket of Range Balls at Ocala Palms Golf and Country Club ($43 Value. Includes Tax. Expires October 31, 2011.)
Located in a central Florida gated community, Ocala Palms Golf and Country Club has a semi-private, par-72, 6,500 yard, 18-hole championship course that is anything but typical. Golfers are greeted by impressive oaks, glittering ponds, white sand bunkers, gorgeous waterfalls and, as described by course representatives, "unpredictable retention areas [that] offer refuge to the golf balls that stray from the immaculately groomed fairways and greens."
Ocala Palms Golf and Country Club’s course was designed by Steve Nugent and Kirk Jones and opened in 1996. The course has an fun and unusual 18-hole design and four sets of tees to bring an exciting challenge to golfers of all skill levels. And because no one should have to wait for a specific day of the week get in a round, Ocala Palms Golf Course is open 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year.
To help you get into the swing of things, the folks at Ocala Palms Golf and Country Club suggest the following approach for hole No. 1, an intimidating starter: "A drive left of the large oak tree and sand bunker will leave a short approach to a well bunkered green. Any drive longer than 100 yards from the green will be in a retention area, and a small hazard lurks to the left of the fairway."
No. 14 has a impressive peninsula green below the fairway, and the finishing hole has everything you love to hate: Sand, oak trees, retention areas — even a lake.
