Rotonda Golf and Country Club
Pay a visit to a wheel-shaped golf wonderland with today's feature: $10 for 18 Holes with a Cart, a Hot Dog and a Soda on The Links Course at Rotonda Golf and Country Club in Rotonda near Port Charlotte ($25 Value. Expires October 15, 2011.)
Presiding over one of the most uniquely conceptualized golf community developments you're ever likely to see, Rotonda Golf and Country Club has been a staple of Charlotte and Sarasota counties' golf obsession for over 30 years.
Though you'll be teeing off on the Links Course — an 18-hole, executive-length course — with the purchase of today's feature, keep in mind that this "hidden jewel" in West Florida now offers a total of 99 premier holes over five courses on the Cape Haze Peninsula with the recent addition of the 18-hole Pinemoor course, so there are plenty more experiences to be had long after your first round.
Following the design of course architect John LaFoy, construction on the par-63 Links Course was completed in 1990. As an executive-style course, you can expect to be challenged by tough multi-tiered greens requiring crisp iron shots from teeboxes and fairways as a balance for its shortened length.
With nine par-3's and nine par-4's, a premium is placed on accuracy, and the ability to avoid the assortment of grassy hollows, pot bunkers and multi-fingered sand traps is duly rewarded. And just to make things even more tricky, you'll find numerous water hazards along the course's maximum length of 4,197 yards that meander through the Cape Haze residential community, as 35 of its 80 total acres are comprised of water.
