Chenoweth Golf Course
At 18 years old, Chenoweth Golf Course and Banquet Center is still a relatively young star in the context of courses throughout the great Buckeye State. Construction on the course at Chenoweth was completed in the spring of 1993, the same year the U.S. brought home the Ryder Cup in a 15-13 win over Europe. Quite literally just a stone’s throw from I-77 in Akron, this par-71 Rick Todd design spans over a modest 6,109 yards from the tips with a course/slope rating of 69/115.
This 18-hole layout flows naturally through groves of oak and maple, which frame most of Chenoweth’s undulating bent grass fairways. And with the incoming fall season, now is as perfect a time as ever to play this Summit County track — the annual autumnal color change will be kicking in soon, setting the edges of Chenoweth's fairways ablaze.
Chenoweth Golf Course has four distinct tee locations, so depending on how your game progresses through next year, the bar is yours to raise as high as you like. If you're looking for a challenge and the ability to work through the all clubs in your bag without going through a whole sleeve of balls as well, this is the ideal course for you. With Chenoweth, Rick Todd has crafted a thoughtful balance between difficulty and playability.
Whether you're the type that likes to warm up before a round or the type to work on the day's problem areas afterward, Chenoweth's practice facility can accommodate. The range will suit a short- and long-game warm-up or a post-round quick-fix all the same. And while you’re nursing your game, stop into the pro shop to seek advice from — who else? — the pro about the kinds of equipment and accessories that might help knock a stroke or two off your round. Lastly, we all know the 19th hole is usually the best one, good round or bad, so join the rest of your group in the clubhouse for a bite and a beverage after your round.
So go get that early-fall 19-hole round in at Chenoweth and see for yourself what one of Akron’s most popular tracks has to offer.
