Pontiac Municipal Golf Course
Come pay homage to over 70 years of Southeastern Michigan golf history with today’s feature: $15 for 18 Holes with Cart at Pontiac Municipal Golf Course in Pontiac ($35 Value. Expires June 1, 2012.)
Having served the citizens of Pontiac and its neighboring communities for over 70 years, this historical course received a face-lift in the fall of 1993 by Dr. Michael Hurdzan, ASGCA. The course reopened in the fall of 1995 with several new residential communities included as part of the overall golf development project at Pontiac Municipal.
With two sets of tees this course will cater to both novice and experienced golfers alike. Pontiac Municipal Golf Course measures out at 5,541 yards from the tips with a course/slope rating of 65.1/107. Don’t let the "municipal" in the name throw you for a loop — this course has public appeal and plenty of challenging features to boot. This par-70 piece of Pontiac history features water on 9 of its 18 holes. Furthermore, the course contains a mix of par-4’s connecting the front and back nines that feature challenging bunkers and lurking water hazards. Adding to its challenging appeal, No. 14 and No. 15 share an island; one’s green is located there while the other's tee box resides on the same island.
It won’t take long for you to realize that this municipal course isn’t your typical municipal course of today. By this, we mean to say that this piece of Pontiac’s history was done right and with attention to detail.
Be sure to stop into Pontiac Municipal’s full-service pro shop before or after you tally up the days scores at Randy’s on the Lake Restaurant; a fully licensed bar offering up some great food and drinks at a great course.
