Spring Valley Golf and Athletic Club
Nicklaus, Palmer, Hagen, Norman. One thing that all these golf greats have in common — other than boasting an unnatural talent for one of humanity's most difficult inventions — is that they have all played 18 on the fairways of today’s feature: $17 for 18 Holes with Cart at Spring Valley Golf and Athletic Club in Elyria near Cleveland ($34 Value. Good Any Day, Any Time until June 1, 2012.)
Having built some of the better-known plays throughout this great state, Harold Paddock spared no expense when it came to creating this 100-year-old, 18-hole layout, and the result is a quality golf course that has attracted a lot of attention for its renovation and modernization project. The improvements, which include new bunkers and lengthened holes, have even led to Spring Valley being named the future home of the Greater Cleveland Open.
The par-72 design spans over 215 acres of Lorain County and with the recent increases in length, now measures out to 6,555 yards from the tips with a course/slope rating of 72/128. Spring Valley offers four demanding par-3’s as well as four lengthy par-5’s with all but one reaching over 500 yards in length. Spring Valley’s rolling bent grass fairways are framed out of mature trees and make a perfect back drop for that great fall round that we all know and love.
How's this for a great name for a 19th hole: The Caddie Shack Bar & Grille! Aside from offering great golf, Spring Valley's staff at The Caddie Shack are on hand to whip up some great food and a cold beverage of your choice for you to enjoy after tallying up a great round.
Come play this Greater Cleveland beauty of a public venue that happens to walk, talk and play like the country clubs of yesteryear!
