For over 20 years, West Michigan has started its golf season off right with the West Michigan Golf Show, an annual showcase of the upcoming season's best-of-the-best. With the area's top courses, resorts and equipment dealers all in one convenient location, you can plan your entire year of golf on the spot - and even tee off for the first time of the season - at the DeVos Place convention center in Grand Rapids.
Attractions such as live speakers, entertaining contests and free lessons give golfers a chance to learn a couple things about their game that they may not have known. Looking for a new driver or wedge set to add to your arsenal this golf season? Thinking of picking up that hot new putter? At the West Michigan Golf Show, you'll find all of the latest equipment from major manufacturers, so take a swing at the special demo-club hitting areas and pick your new favorite weapon.
This year’s seminar stage is packed with Two Headliners! John Novosel Jr from Tour Tempo, and Mike Shannon from Sea Island Georgia and one of Golf Digest’s “America’s 50 Greatest Teachers”. John has worked with golfers of all abilities – including PGA & LPGA Tour Players, Nationwide Tour Players, and also top amateurs. His teaching puts an emphasis on the golfer achieving a consistent, PGA Tour-type tempo and maximizing clubhead speed at impact. A short game expert, Shannon invented the Laser Optics Putting Improvement System that is currently used by more than 100 tour players. Shannon has made numerous television appearances, including an appearance on the Golf Channel’s “Golf Academy Live."
And if you’re looking for a bit of friendly competition, check out the Par-3 Challenge, $10,000 Putt or other contests offered to golfers of all ages and skill levels — all it takes is one great swing or putt for a chance to win great prizes!
Or, to kick off your swing tune-up and get ready for the season, let an instructor point you in the right direction with a free lesson. PGA Professionals will be on hand to offer a quick assessment of your swing and the areas on which to focus your practice efforts, as well as tips on how to become a better player on the course. Best of all, these helpful insights are free with your paid admission!
So, mark your calendars, call your golf buddies and head to the West Michigan Golf Show on February 10-12 to take advantage of all things golf in 2012!
