Woussickett Golf Course
Don’t pass up a great play for a great value in the north of the Buckeye State with today’s feature: $18 for 18 Holes with Cart and Range Balls at Woussickett Golf Course in Sandusky ($47 Value. Expires June 1, 2012.)
1984 — aside from being the title of one of the world's most celebrated novels — was also the year Fuzzy Zoeller took home the U.S. Open Championship Trophy, Lee Trevino walked away with the Wanamaker Trophy and, lastly, Woussickett Golf Course came to life in Northern Ohio.
Woussickett Golf Course is south of Sandusky, just off of the I-80 turnpike, and well worth the drive from Toledo or Cleveland. Cut from Erie County’s rolling hills, you’ll find undulating bent grass greens, shapely fairways and several ponds and creeks running through this facility, which is known for its playability and traditional design. This par-70 layout measures out to a modest 6,149 yards from the tips and depending on your skill level, you’ll tee off from one of three distinct tee locations, so whether you’re new to the game or you’re that scratch golfer that the rest of your foursome aspires to be, this course can accommodate your game.
In addition to its fine course, Woussickett Golf Course offers other useful features, including a driving range, a fully stocked pro shop and an accommodating "19th Hole" to boot. Be sure to warm up first at the range, as it’s fall now and any poorly struck golf balls are likely to leave your hands ringing. Also, you'll want to take some time out of your range session to warm up what some consider the most important club in the bag by visiting the practice putting green, as well. When done for the day, head into Woussickett's on-site restaurant to tally up the scores; no round of golf is complete without some great food and a cold beverage at the end of the round.
Whether it’s your last day of fall golf, or you’re just scratching the itch you’ve got to play more, come up to Woussickett Golf Course and play a course with no gimmicks — just golf!
