Rouge Park Golf Course and Chandler Park Golf Course
Pay your respects to a pair of courses that have been a part of Detroit golf legacy since the turn of the 20th century with today's feature: $20 for 18 Holes with Cart and Lunch at Your Choice Between Rouge Park Golf Course OR Chandler Park Golf Course near Detroit ($44 Value. Good Any Day, Any Time until December 1, 2012.)
A veritable piece of Southeastern Michigan's golf history, the Rouge Park Golf Course was opened in 1923 as project of the City of Detroit Park System. Over the last 90 years, Rouge Park has earned its place in the hearts of players with a classic design reminiscent of its construction time, some of the most generous fairways around and scenic views in the heart of the city.
Skillfully placed bunkers provoke shot creativity, as do the hilly terrain and the water hazards which dot the landscape. Though it certainly poses a challenge — No. 11 is considered by many to be one of the most difficult holes in Metro Detroit — the par-72 Rouge Park Golf Course plays fair, to a manageable length of 6,325 yards from the tips.
Chandler Park Golf Course is also conveniently located in Detroit, just off of I-94, and only minutes from Downtown Detroit, Grosse Pointe and Grosse Pointe Park. This par-71, 18-hole public course plays over 6,000 yards from the championship tees and just over 4,500 yards from the forward tees.
Chandler Park's gently rolling fairways and contoured greens provide a thoroughly enjoyable round with just the right amount of challenge from your first tee shot to your final putt on the 18th green. In fact, its layout has been recognized by Golf Digest Magazine as one of the top "Women-Friendly Golf Courses" for its fairness at any skill level.
Both courses are managed and operated by Vargo Golf Company, the leading golf management company in the State of Michigan. Rouge Park and Chandler Park Golf Courses — as with the rest of the Vargo Golf family of courses — offer leagues for men, women and seniors which can be joined through printable forms found on the Rouge Park and Chandler Park websites, as well as outings and formal events.
