In South-Central Florida lies the magnificent Sun 'n Lake Golf Club, home to two beautiful 18-hole courses, Deer Run and Turtle Run. The club is conveniently located off of Highway 27 between Sebring and Avon Park in the middle of Highlands County. Home to several local and national tournaments, the beauty and prestige of this course is no secret.

The par-72 Deer Run course, the first of the two eighteens, was originally opened in 1976. Designed by Don Dyer, this classic course is fun and challenging to even the experts. With long holes for the power-hungry as well as various dastardly obstacles for the savvy, Deer Run presents a unique challenge for players of all types. And with four sets of tees to choose from, Deer Run is also playable by all, measuring 6,713 yards from the back tees, and just over 6,000 yards for the front tees.

The Turtle Run course the latter addition to Sun n’ Lake Golf Club, and opened for play in 1999. Designed by Charles Ankrom, Turtle Run is all about accuracy, precision and shot-making ability. However, while power is not as big of an issue as on Deer Run, the par-4s and par-5s still stretch out there a ways, so turn on the boost as needed. Just be aware of the narrow landing zones, moguls and sand traps that can cause all sorts of trouble before you even set your foot on the green. Turtle Run is a par-72 and plays just over 6,500 yards from the back tees. Also, an interesting side note: Turtle Run provides sanctuary for protected birds, and the area is lush and full of many varieties of beautiful and rare winged friends.
