Indian Run Golf Club
Indian Run Golf Club is a classically designed test of golf that is quintessentially Michigander in nature and features all the best elements golf in this state has to offer. Open since 1965, the course at Indian Springs has spent almost a half-century providing a challenging yet enjoyable round for all its guests.
Throughout the 18-hole championship layout designed by prominent Michigan course architect Charles Scott, you'll find well-placed bunkers and water hazards, tall trees lining the fairways and small, tough greens. In fact, the first two holes alone combine all of these elements for a demonstration of the strategic nature of Indian Run's design right out of the gates.
Hole No. 1, a par-4 with the #3 handicap, presents a starting tee shot that can be difficult if you haven't warmed up, as you'll be staring down the barrel at water to the right and fairway bunkers left. However, though the green is guarded by bunkers, it is a decently sized target which makes par fairly attainable. No. 2, the #1 handicap, is a 543-yard par-5 with OB both left and right, and lined with large oak trees. And, unlike the No. 1 green, this one ranks as the smallest on the course, and is just as bunkered as the last.
The rest of this 6,808-yard course draws on the experience of the first two, resulting in a course/slope rating of 72.6/126. Thankfully, three additional tee locations are provided, allowing for the difficulty of the round to be tailored to the player's skill level. Even more helpful, Indian Run Golf Club features a 30-tee driving range, perfect to help avoid any first-tee jitters on the already-tough No. 1 tee box.
In summary, the strategic design of Indian Run Golf Club gives us what we all want: An exciting round with variety of design elements that keeps players engaged and focused on tackling each challenge thrown their way.
