Colton Golf Club
Unfortunately, not all of us who love the game of golf have the time we'd like to play or practice. Luckily, places like Colton Golf Club give us a few extra hours in the day to get in some play: $13 for 18 Holes with Cart and Range Balls at Colton Golf Club in Colton near San Bernardino ($26 Value. Expires September 30, 2012.)
Colton Golf Club was designed by famous golf course architect Robert Trent Jones, Sr. In fact, one of the golf club's owners was the legendary Sam Snead, who played here whenever he was in town. It's been said that "the sun never sets on a Robert Trent Jones golf course," and Colton is no exception — well, that's not entirely true. The sun still sets every day at Colton, but that doesn't mean the lights go out, and it doesn't mean you have to put the clubs away, either; for 42 years, Colton Golf Club has been open for "night golf,' and now, thanks to a lighting overhaul, the course is brighter than ever.
Besides being great to extend the hours of play, Colton Golf Club is also great for low-handicappers and beginners alike. This 18-hole, par-57 course has been said to reward players for their accuracy rather than their distance, making Colton a great course to work out any kinks in your approach and short game.
While the pros have a chance to perfect their strokes, those new to the game will find themselves working with a great layout to learn on. With a generous course rating and slope of 54.2/82, each player has plenty of opportunity to go low. Signature holes at Colton include No. 18, a 202-yard, par-3 with a generous, kidney-shaped bunker to the right of green which will force you to choose your club carefully, particularly if the wind is kicking up.
