Diablo Grande Golf and Country Club, residing in the hillsides of Northern California's rolling ranchlands, has been providing guests with 36 unique, challenging holes of championship for the better part of two decades. Built on some of the finest land in the state, both The Ranch and The Legends courses are composed of thoughtful layouts and breathtaking natural features that have earned Diablo Grande national recognition.
Designed by award-winning golf course architect Denis Griffiths — who also holds the honor of the sole American ever to design a course in St. Andrews, Scotland — The Ranch Course at Diablo Grande is considered the more formidable of the two given its lengthy 7,243-yard run and a course/slope rating of 75.4/138. The character of this course is best showcased by none other than the signature No. 12, aptly named "The Mustang." In fact, its prodigious length nearly earned this hole the notorious honor of being California’s first par-6. As for the rest of the course, dramatic elevation changes feature prominently as it follows the natural contours of the surrounding landscape, creating a dream-like layout that has been noted as one of the top courses in Northern California by Golf Today Magazine.
Opening two years later, in 1998, The Legends Course is so named for its two co-designers: Jack Nicklaus and Gene Sarazen, two of golf's most "legendary" personae. With long fairways by bordered by rolling vineyards, The Legends plays to a slightly less intimidating 7,112 yards with a course/slope rating of 74.3/143. While the distinct bunkering may prove to be a bit of a challenge, everyone knows the greens are where "legends" are born, and players learn quickly to show respect. The exceptionally skillful fusion of a serene design and a fair challenge has granted The Legends recognition as "6th Best New Private Golf Course" and "12th Best Golf Course in the State" by Golf Digest, as well as earned a cadre of loyal fans.
While you may have a hard time deciding which course to spend your stay at, spend the length of your debate at Diablo Grande's practice facility. Having recently upgraded its driving range and practice green, Diablo Grande offers guests the ability to improve their game year-round. After your round, enjoy a cocktail in the Sunset Lounge or wine-and-dine your playing partners with a wide array of menu options available for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Perfect for special events, this beautiful clubhouse offers an excellent selection of space and scenery to make any moment memorable.
So come spend an afternoon in the midst of an extraordinary atmosphere and on the grounds of two award-winning courses at Diablo Grande Golf and Country Club.
