Just east and north of Downtown Kalamazoo, Eastern Hills Golf Course has built a reputation of providing great playing conditions on its top-rated nines for over half a century. Originally constructed in 1959, the initial 18-hole "Eighteen" course was with traditional design elements and maximum playability in mind, including four different teeing grounds to accommodate players of all skill levels. The different tees are helpful, considering this par-72 plays to the tune of about 6,800 tough yards from the tips; the shortest tees play to just 5,164 yards.

One year later after the Eighteen debuted, the nine-hole "West" course was completed and opened to the public. Though similar in design, the West presents a slightly different look, as it was designed from the start as a complete nine: A more manageable challenge, this par-35 plays to just 2,641 yards with a course/slope rating of 67.6/112 from the farthest tees.
