Emerald Isle Golf Course
Visit this local favorite of hard-working types for a late round before the sun goes down with today's feature: $15 for 18 Holes with Cart at Emerald Isle Golf Course in Oceanside ($31 Value. No Time Restrictions. Expires June 30, 2013!)
Emerald Isle Golf Course, located in the beautiful city of Oceanside, was designed in 1986 by Michael Gandy, and has been providing an enjoyable, laid-back golf atmosphere for over 25 years. In addition to its given name, this executive-length gem also is known as "North County's Most Challenging Executive Course" — and for good reason.
The 2,452-yard par-56 facility features 18 holes built upon hilly terrain and, as a result, elevation changes are a big factor in the difficulty of the course from the tee box and on the green. The layout of the course also carries over and around two natural lakes, which are typically manageable when taken on alone, but the couple-mile proximity to the ocean makes for unpredictable breezy conditions. When not contending with the lakes, watch out for narrow fairways. When choosing clubs, remember that your next shot is better off short and in line rather than long and wayward.
If you're hungry before, during or after your round, head over to the snack bar to grab a quick bite or beverage, including beer and wine. And if your round didn't quench your thirst for pure iron shots, pick up a bucket of range balls and take aim at the 15-tee driving range, or visit the nearby putting green for practice with the shortest club in your bag.
Emerald Isle is located between San Diego and Los Angeles to offer you the best of Southern California golf. From 10 minutes away, where miles of smooth white beach beckon from beneath the West Coast's longest wooden pier, to the surrounding areas of Carlsbad, Vista, San Marcos and the rest of the North San Diego County area, you'll find no better executive golf experience than at Emerald Isle Golf Course.
