Birchwood Country Club occupies a unique, heptagon-shaped plot of rolling terrain with 18 holes and a whole lot of history. The irregular borders of the land reflect upon the design of the course itself, with many one-of-a-kind holes to discover and enjoy.
It all started with a small group of local residents who got together, made plans and presto — Birchwood Country Club was founded. Their dedication to the course was such that the members even personally planted the trees on the course.
The 6,462-yard, par-72 course has a rating of 70.7 and a slope of 128. The current configuration of Birchwood Country Club evolved from its original nine-hole layout that was designed by Mr. L. A. Newnham. The back nine was built by the members and opened for play in 1972. The course has recently shifted from private to semi-private and has transformed the greens to Bermuda grass.
Birchwood Country Club has seen many years come and go, but upkeep has always been a priority. After its shirt from private to semi-private, the course renovated its greens, resurfacing them with classic Bermuda grass. Also, repairs and renovations to the clubhouse after a 1994 fire stand as a testament to the perseverance of those who were determined to rebuild. The building now houses both the golf shop and Lou's Grill.
Lou’s Grill at Birchwood has gotten rave reviews from past diners. Twenty-five-year restaurant veteran Lou is all about taking care of his guests and finding new ways to ensure they have a fun visit, including bringing live music to the patio on Saturday nights.
It's the perfect place to relax and count up the strokes, with a cold beverage and a beautiful view of the finishing hole at Birchwood Country Club!
