Cloverleaf Golf Course
Experience an afternoon on a course with a rich historical background with today's feature: $14 for 18 Holes with Cart at Cloverleaf Golf Course in Alton near St. Louis ($28 Value. Expires November 1, 2013.)
Initially known as the Gabriel Dairy Farm until 1931, Cloverleaf Golf Course was repurposed by the namesake family, making it one of only five courses to be built in the area between 1931 and 1951. The course was cultivated from the farm to produce its first nine holes on Memorial Day, just over 82 years ago. Since then, an additional nine holes were added and these fairways have been enjoyed by over 2.5 million visitors over the years.
Replicas of other courses built in the early century, Cloverleaf Golf Course extends a links-style layout along rolling pastures and large oaks. Reminiscent of the family farm that once occupied this and, the course combines quick greens with elegant backdrops for an unmatched golf experience. The first tee sits upon a slightly elevated hill overlooking some of the area's most exceptional views, such as the dairy barn, since remodeled into the clubhouse.
Featuring a distance of 5,721 yards from its longest tees, Cloverleaf Golf Course is a par-70 built in the same standards of its era. Forgiving to those with a more modern approach — and especially technology — Cloverleaf provides ample opportunity for all skill levels to enjoy a round. Be warned, this course will still prove its worth with hazardous lakes and treacherous sand bunkers.
Steal away an afternoon under the breathtaking tree lines of Cloverleaf and enjoy a cold beverage on the patio of its elegant and historical clubhouse. Serving some of the area's best memories, this historical landmark reminds its guests what the game is truly all about.
Whether it's just enjoying the truly gorgeous greenery that surrounds the grounds or that invitation to play a bit of history, Cloverleaf Golf Course is the perfect getaway for you and your golf game this season.
