River Heights Golf Course
River Heights Golf Course is a scenic venue that employs a challenging mix of traditional- and links-style golf design — along with a healthy dose of water — to bring a fun and rewarding round to life. Part of the Dekalb Park District, along with sister course Buena Vista Golf Course, River Heights has become the local option for an enjoyable golf experience.
Running along both sides of the Kishwaukee River, River Heights Golf Course makes full use of the river's smooth turns. Water played a primary role in shaping the course. Thirteen of its eighteen championship holes incorporate the river into their design in some fashion, whether it forms a gentle dogleg or cuts straight through the middle of the fairway. And another three, Nos. 12, 13 and 14, circle a large pond, making No. 1 the only dry hole on the course. Another notable hole is No. 5, a 374-yard par-4 that was named one of the "Top Holes in DeKalb County."
While the prospect of a few extra penalty strokes looms large, River Heights does a fantastic job of metering the difficulty of the course. Three tee locations, ranging from 6,428 yard from the tips to 5,487 yards from the forward tees, make the course accessible for all players without sacrificing the flow of its design.
In addition to its fantastic course, River Heights also is known for its friendly, professional instructional staff, who are available for both private and group lessons as well as junior clinics.
So for the all-around good time in DeKalb, head on over to the one-of-a-kind River Heights Golf Course.
