Placed just inside a beautiful forest is one of the area’s favorite and well-known golf courses, Indian Valley Golf Course. With its favorable playing conditions and its native oaks and elegant maples surrounding each hole, Indian Valley is a course every golf enthusiast can truly enjoy.
Designed by Ellis Maples in 1968 on a beautiful plot of land, the city-owned and operated Indian Valley owes much of its play to the surrounding greenery. Tight fairways of lush Bermuda grass pave the way across 6,610 total yards. The length and layout of this par-70 sets up perfectly for a pitch-and-putt-type player. Newly renovated greens give golfers the ability to sink a few extra putts and the soft sand bunkers make each wayward shot a bit more difficult.
Running alongside the well-known Haw River, Indian Valley plays true to its natural surroundings. Utilizing water on many of the holes, this clever layout forces players to go "go big or go home" on some tee shots. The slightly above-par course/slope rating of 71.3/116 proves that Indian Valley is tough to beat, but an assorted variety of tee boxes offer each player the option to craft the course to their own ability.
Offering avid golfers a fair test of their golf game, Indian Valley Golf Course is the perfect place to come harness your skills. Enjoy a warm-up bucket at the practice facility or just putt a few around the green. If it’s a meal you’re craving, Indian Valley offers that, too, and it’s always nice to enjoy a cold refreshing beverage after the turn. Make sure you stop by the fully stocked pro shop to pick up any of your gear needs — and don’t forget the Indian Valley Golf Course souvenirs!
