McGuire’s Resort was founded back in 1949 by Curly and Velma McGuire. The resort has grown from humble beginnings as a small roadside stand with 12 stools to a full-service, four-season recreational resort. At the heart of McGuire's Resort are 27 holes of pristine golf, fun yet challenging, and immersed in Mother Nature’s finest!
"The nice thing about the 27 holes of Michigan golf at McGuire's Resort is that golfers of all skill levels can come out and have an enjoyable round: seniors, kids, ladies – even beginners. And over the course of 40-plus years, some of the kids who took their first swings are coming back to McGuire's for another round – and this time they have their kids and grandkids with them!"
— Phil Himes, Head Professional, McGuire's Resort
The carefully maintained layout features Bluegrass fairways, sand bunkers, grass berms, water hazards and fast Bentgrass greens, all culminating in an amazing view of Lake Cadillac. The 18-hole, par-71 Spruce Course winds through pine forests, contributing to this definitive "up north" experience. This course was originally designed by Bruce Matthews, Sr. and later enhanced by the helping hand of Mark DeVries.
In speaking of the Spruce Course’s difficulty, resort officials said, "The course plays longer then it appears on the scorecard, with very tight fairways. And when you're not admiring Mother Nature's work in her magnificent pine trees, you'll have to remember to hit around them."
Designed as a complement to The Spruce Course, be sure to wander the wider fairways of the 9-hole, par-36 Norway course, great for golfers with higher handicaps.
"As a veteran golf professional, I've worked and golfed at some of the best courses in the country. Not only is the setting at McGuire's beautiful, the courses provide tough challenges most golfers are looking for."
