Heart of the Lakes was designed by Mike Hill, who used his professional experience on the course to inform the routing and layout of each hole. His perspective keeps the course challenging all skill levels, from beginning to professional. Notable holes on the 5,472-yard course include the par-5 start on No. 1, as well as the #1 handicap, the par-4 No. 16 which comes with a huge forced-carry over water.
