Born in Nottingham, England, in 1884, course architect Wilfred Reid designed this beautiful 18-hole layout, as well as in the state and California, Delaware, England and France. Much closer than that jump over the Pond or across the country, you’ll find Bald Mountain Golf Course just northeast of the Palace of Auburn Hills, and easily accessible to all of Metro Detroit. Bald Mountain was built in 1929, during the Golden Age of Golf Architecture, and possesses the classic elements of the time which so many future architects would seek to emulate.

Bald Mountain Golf Course is an 18-hole layout with an additional 9-hole executive course for you those without the time to play a full 18. For those with more time to spare, you’ll find Bald Mountain’s par-71 layout a fair 6,624 yards from the tips with a course/slope rating of 71/120. If you’re the kind of golfer that appreciates a strong traditional design with rolling fairways and tough-but-true greens, Bald Mountain is your bread and butter.

The fairways at Bald Mountain are generous, thanks to Wilfred Reid’s design pre-dating the days of overly complex course design with "gimmicky" holes. Wayward tee shots are recoverable; mostly, you’ll find yourself in the grass bunkers, berms and dips that add to Bald Mountain’s constantly changing topography.
