Seven Lakes Country Club
Come experience one of North Carolina’s award-winning golf gems with today’s feature: $32 for 18 Holes with Cart and Range Balls at Seven Lakes Country Club in Seven Lakes near Southern Pines ($80 Value. Good Any Time until March 14, 2015.)
Seven Lakes Country Club occupies some of the most desirable golf terrain in the state — a distinction that has helped it earn recognition as a Top 100 course in North Carolina and NGCOA Sandhills "Course of the Year" in 2010, 2011 and 2012. With a layout stretching up to 6,869 yards and bordered by stands of Longleaf pines, this desirable course has also earned a tough-to-beat 4-Star rating from Golf Digest.
Built in 1976, Seven Lakes Country Club was designed by Peter Tufts III. Tufts III plans for Seven Lakes fully incorporated the natural topography of the land, with constant elevation changes playing a large role in shot selection. To add another dimension to the challenge, he also cut a variety of water features and sand bunkers into the course. For visual appeal, the landscape is decorated with some of the area's most beautiful flowering flora, with azaleas, magnolias and dogwood cottons setting a gorgeous scene. The result is a well-executed plan that appeals to golfers of all skill levels. Playing to a standard par 72, players may choose one of six different tee locations. So even thought the course accommodates all players, Seven Lakes is recognized as one of the area's best tracks for low-handicappers, due to the most difficult course/slope rating coming in at a tough 74.0/142.
With an almost circular out-and-back design, Seven Lakes Country Club plays true to its name. Winding in and around numerous ponds and streams, some of these holes can pack quite a punch. If you prefer the land, steer clear of the 381-yard No. 14, as this difficult dogleg design takes you over and adjacent to a large lake for its entire length. If short and strategic is more your common style, then Seven Lakes' forgiving par-3s will suit your game.
Before your round, make a short stop at the practice facility, where you can fine-tune your swing for the round ahead. And don’t forget to pay a visit to the pro shop if you're looking to make an equipment change. With a professional and knowledgeable staff, you'll be able to find the clubs that best complement your style of play.
So take a trip and treat yourself to a 4-star experience with an afternoon of true Carolina Sandhills golf at Seven Lakes Country Club!
