Apple Mountain Golf Resort
Strike gold in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada with today's deal: $29 for 18 Holes with Cart at Apple Mountain Golf Resort in Camino near Sacramento ($60 Value. Expires November 1, 2015!)
Carved out of the historic apple- and gold-ridden Sierra Nevada foothills lies Apple Mountain Golf Resort — the perfect course for any of you longing for a departure from the traditional layout of many championship golf courses. It goes without saying that this course's chief architect was Mother Nature herself, aided with a little fine tuning from the brilliance of course designer Algie M. Pulley, Jr.
This par-70 natural beauty measures out to 6,450 from the tips with a course/slope rating of 70.6/138. Apple Mountain Golf Resort also has four sets of tees to choose from, so you'll find that this course will provide both challenges and playability for golfers of all skill levels. Most importantly, if you appreciate courses that utilize their topography to add both appeal and a natural dynamic then this is an ideal course for you.
Get started with the par-4 No. 1 ("Golder Seeker") which will give you an idea of Apple Mountain's topography straight away with a downhill tee shot that will end up in the drink if you don’t have a good feel for distance. Moving onto the par-5 No. 5, which features water and a double dogleg, you'll be required to keep your second shot simple and make an uphill approach. With a few par-3’s after the par-5 No. 5 and a smattering of interesting par-4's, your round will end at "Gamble Creek", the par-5 No. 18. This hole is easily reached in two given a long approach shot over the creek that lies around 50 yards in front of the green.
Be sure to warm up the irons and work a few tee shots at the range prior to hitting the links. Also, be sure to pay homage to Apple Mountain's pro shop, bringing you all of the big names in equipment and golf gear that you demand.
Tally up the days scores at the Apple Mountain Grille, which offers up anything from breakfast, appetizers and entrees, all along with a good beer or glass of wine.
Head up to gold country and strike it big with some challenging golf at Apple Mountain Golf Resort!
