Play a contemporary Carolina course with today’s feature: $14 for 18 Holes with Cart at Pineland Country Club in Nichols near Florence ($33 Value. Good Any Time until October 1, 2016!)
Located just south of the border about an hour’s drive from Myrtle Beach, today’s feature course, Pineland Country Club in Nichols, has spent the last 40+ years challenging golfers with its beautiful layout, intricate landscapes, and picturesque atmosphere that helps make it one of the Tar Heel State’s hidden gems of golf.
Noted golf architect Gene Hamm can happily count Pineland as one of his finest creations. This 18-hole masterpiece perfectly incorporates the natural Carolina countryside into its design, creating a layout that is both pleasing to the eye and challenging to every club in the bag. Four different sets of tees allow you to pick your poison, with the pro tees maxing out at almost 6,700 yards, and the shortest at a mere 4,800. There is water on the course that will come into play several times throughout your round, but, as demonstrated by its name the course’s biggest obstacle is most often the generous areas of mature trees that litter the layout.
To add an even further test to your round of golf, Pineland starts you out on the course’s most difficult challenge: the par-5 1st hole. Playing just over 550 yards from the back set of tees, this massive dogleg right features disastrous water on the right side of the fairway, and trees and an enormous bunker surrounding the green. Find a way to make it through #1 without blowing up your score into double digits, and you might just find yourself finishing your round with a score you’ll be happy to brag about on Monday.
If you’re interested in flashy courses that are heavy on image but light on quality, Pineland isn’t for you. But if you want a course that will truly test your game in an exceptional scenic setting, then you’ve found your next great round. Don’t let this feature pass you by – reserve your round now!
