Today's feature course, California Oaks in Murrieta, gives you the chance to do it all again, this time against one of Rainville's best and most enjoyable designs, which also happens to be one of the best courses in the entire state. Located just minutes from Temecula and easily accessible by highway, California Oaks' spectacular par-70 layout is a must-play for all West Coast golfers.

Though the course only carries a 66.1/122 rating from the back set of tees, don't be fooled: California Oaks is not an easy course to master during your first visit. Outside of the clever design, the epic countryside provides your biggest obstacles including rolling changes in elevation, large mature trees (for which the course is named), and flowing water on nearly every single hole throughout the 18. Fairway bunkers should always be in the back of your mind when planning your tee shot, and so too should be the rough which is of significant length throughout the course and a true beast to try and rescue your ball from.

If your short game is in shape coming into your round, you'll have the best chance of shooting a low score at California Oaks, as the greens themselves and their surrounding areas of challenge make up one of the toughest portions of the course. Learn to navigate the extremely undulated putting surfaces, and use pinpoint accuracy with your wedges to get up and down from the sand, and you'll find yourself in a good position to keep your scores from ballooning into triple digits.
