Fall Creek Golf Club
The perfect Pendleton round awaits you with today’s feature: $13 for 18 Holes with Cart at Fall Creek Golf Club in Pendleton near Indianapolis ($30 Value. Good Any Day, Any Time until June 1, 2017!)
With a rich history that dates back all the way to the First World War, today’s feature course, Fall Creek Golf Club, is one of the Indianapolis-area’s classic rounds of golf. An extremely playable 18 that does posses some trickier moments that will test the skills of even the most consistent player, this municipal gem and it’s relaxed layout may just play host to your lowest round of the year.
A little-known secret that is often mistaken for a private course, Fall Creek Golf Club has been a favorite of locals for years – and just now is the word really starting to spread across the Midwest about its exceptional course. Always beautifully manicured, well-managed, and respectfully rangered, its 5,600 yards will put up quite a fight against your quest for a low score – so make sure to stop into the pro shop and spend some time on the driving range before your round begins.
On paper it may look like a course that features no water and limited bunkers might be somewhat of a push-over, but as you tee off on #1 you’ll learn to think differently. Though generous fairways they might be, mature trees are often crowded around landing areas and common distances, potentially turning any left or right variance in your ball flight into a no-options-left punch out. The overall distance may be relatively short, allowing many wedge and short-iron shots into the green, but the putting surfaces here are small, unpredictable, and feature virtually no areas that make for guaranteed two-putts.
As you come to finish your round, Fall Creek provides one final surprise to keep you coming back: the majestic 18th hole. Known as one of the best finishes in Madison County, 18 plays 412 yards straight out, and requires a very accurate approach shot to avoid the large green side bunker and set yourself up for a par. What a way to cap off your day – with one of the biggest tests on the course.
