One of golf’s great traditions is the long and extensive history that surrounds every part of the game. Each classic course throughout the country carries with it the story of its architects, proprietors, and the thousands of great rounds played on its grounds. Today’s feature, Marengo Ridge Golf Club, has an organic history of starting as a small nine-hole course for locals to growing into one of Golf Digest’s Best Places to Play – garnering 4.5 out of 5 stars. Grab your clubs and your favorite playing partners, and test your game on the challenging 6,600-yard layout of Marengo Ridge.
Marengo Ridge Golf Club is today’s featured golf course, and its history is as rich as the beautiful landscape its built upon. Starting in 1963 as a nine-hole course, the original clubhouse was a renovated working cow barn – quickly becoming a local gathering places for Friday fish frys, Saturday prime rib dinners, and countless great memories. After several decades of success, farmland adjacent to the existing course was purchased and renovated into the back nine – helping to create one of the most majestic 18-hole layouts in the state. With a new clubhouse constructed in 1993, and a family owned and operated facility, Marengo Ridge Golf Club has set itself apart as one of the most enjoyable playing experience in the Prairie State.
Along with a truly invigorating golf course, Marengo Ridge is also home to an extensive practice facility ready to help you get your game in shape. The 20-stall driving range is the perfect place to work on your full-swing mechanics, and the 15,000 square foot putting and chipping green will help you grasp the speed of the greens on the course. After your round, the Marengo Ridge Bar and Grill is the perfect place to grab a delicious bite to eat, refreshing drink, or a seat and watch the sun set over the beautiful golf course.
Don’t let the chance to play this great course pass you by; navigate around the mature trees, clear the plentiful water, and take on the gorgeous elevation of Marengo Ridge with today’s feature from GroupGolfer.
