Playing just under 6,600 yards from the back set of tees, Potsdam’s impressive layout takes full advantage of the northern New York countryside to create a one-of-a-kind playing experience steeped in natural challenge. Generous areas of elevation and thick woodlands often challenge a player’s accuracy and mettle, while the rushing ice-cold trout stream that runs through more than half of the course’s holes will always keep you on your toes. Most challenging, and impressive, though, are the course’s putting greens. Exceptionally well manicured and as smooth rolling and quick as you’ll find in the Empire State, the greens can certainly be the dealbreaker on a good round if you can’t quite find their speed in time.

As you’re measuring risk vs reward and executing your course strategy during your round, be sure to play close attention before teeing off on #4 – the course’s signature hole. A 348-yard par-4 that requires exceptional accuracy off of the tee to hit the narrow fairway, the key shot on #4 is the approach which must be hit well over a stream to stroke a green sandwiched in front of an intimidating pond. Make par or better here while keeping your ball dry, and you’re in great shape to march onto the back with a low score on the day.
