Rolling Hills Country Club
Play an Upstate marvel with today’s feature: $15 for 18 Holes with Cart and Range Balls at Rolling Hills Country Club in Fort Johnson near Albany ($48 Value. Good Any Day, Any Time until July 1, 2018!)
Located on the shores of the Mohawk River, today’s feature course, Rolling Hills Country Club in Fort Johnson, meets all of the checkpoints for a truly engaging and amazing round of golf. Designed by William H. Tucker and originally opened as a private fraternity a century ago, Rolling Hills is now open for public play, establishing one of the best public golf courses anywhere in the Upstate region.
Large areas of water, pockets of majestic mature trees, cleverly placed sand bunkers – Rolling Hills features all of the quintessential Parkland-style challenges to test your game. But fear not, weekend warriors: The course is also exceptionally playable, with many low scores to be had for players who know when to “go for it” and when to step back.
From the first tee to the final green on this almost 6,200-yard course, you’ll find more than several generous landing areas, small greens that roll smooth and true, and a fairly straightforward layout that keeps the drastic doglegs to a minimum. However, if you do get into trouble on this 70.8/138-rated course, don’t expect an easy road back to par.
Aside from the gorgeous layout and the multi-faceted challenge it provides, Rolling Hills is totally unique for another reason: its atmosphere. Unlike many country clubs that feature a course of this high quality, Rolling Hills promotes a relaxed, low-pressure round designed to make you feel at home, not make you want to go home. Combine this with the one-of-a-kind golf course and facility, and you’ve got one of the best in New York.
The superb course is definitely why you come to Rolling Hills, but the awesome amenities take things to a whole new level. The clubhouse features a newly remodeled pro shop that carries equipment and clothing from some of the biggest names in the game, as well as an awesome restaurant that serves up all of your lunch and dinner favorites. The facility also features a full-service practice facility complete with driving range and putting green to help you get in shape before you tee off.
Located just 20 miles west of Schenectady and less than 10 miles from Amsterdam, Fonda, Johnstown and Gloversville, this Empire State jewel is definitely a must-play!
