Home to one of the Chicagoland's "Dream 18" courses, the incredible 27-hole layout at the Links of Carillon is without question one of the Land of Lincoln's best. Centrally located in beautiful Plainfield (just a short drive from the city proper), the Links have been named one of Golf Digest's Best Places to Play - and it isn't hard to see why. An impressive layout designed by Greg Martin, this course originally opened at as an 18-hole championship course. In 1996, another nine was added making the Links at Carillon one of Illinois' must-play golf destinations. A course that features plenty of water, newly remodeled sand bunkers, and loads of other areas of challenge, an enjoyable round is all but guaranteed for each and every player.
The three nine-hole layouts that make up the Links of Carillon each offer a unique and individual challenge. The Blue course, playing 3,153 yards, is the newest and shortest of the three, and carries a course/slope rating of 34.6/60. The Red course, part of the original 18 with the White nine, is rated 35.7/61 and plays just over 3,400 yards. The most challenging of the three nines is also the longest. The White course plays just under 3,500 yards, is rated 36/61, and is a true test to anyone who dares take it on.
When a course has 27 beautiful holes of this caliber, the offered amenities could very well be an afterthought – but not at Carillon. Golfers can get their game in shape by warming up in the Links Learning Center featuring a short game area, putting green, and full-service driving range. The pro shop is competitively priced with all kinds of golf gear, accessories, and merchandise, and the Links Grille offers up one of the area's best food and drink menus. Along with the golf and amenities, a dedicated staff and comfortable atmosphere makes the Links at Carillon truly one of the most enjoyable rounds of golf in the State.
