Enjoy your next round to the fullest with today’s feature: $24 for 18 Holes with Cart and Range Balls at Palmira Golf & Country Club in St. John near Gary ($61 Value. Good Any Time until June 30, 2018!)
Located in Northwest Indiana, convenient to Chicago and the South Suburbs, today’s feature course, Palmira Golf Club in Saint John, has quickly risen in the ranks to become on of the Hoosier State’s most sought-after rounds of golf. Undergoing significant construction over the last ten years, the resulting course is unforgettable and remarkable – intertwining the undulation and features of the natural Midwestern countryside perfectly into the parkland-style layout.
Though each hole at Palmira offers its own unique set of challenges, you’ll especially want to look out for the course’s two highest handicapped holes: the par-5 8th on the front, and the 600-yard par-5 17th on the back. The 8th, playing as the course’s second most difficult hole, is a monster that features water and sand bunkers on the right, and heavily wooded areas on the left. Before you can think about hitting the green, you’ll have to negotiate your way over another stream of water between your approach shot and the putting surface.
The 17th, the course’s longest and most difficult hole, is a beast unto itself. Long and fairly straight off of the tee, the hole features both water and significant wooded areas on both sides of the fairway. Your tee shot, second shot, and approach shot must all be hit accurately and with some significant length if you want to avoid the score-inflating hazards and come close to hitting the green in regulation.
Though the course will certainly take some finesse to master, worry not, fellow hacker: Palmira provides the perfect space to perfect your game and get ready to take on the course. One of the area’s only grass driving ranges is present right on the grounds and allows you to warm up all of your clubs in course-like conditions. Here, you can also spend some time on the large undulating putting green, as well as work on your short game and sand play as well.
With many elevated tees, numerous water hazards and a course design that features risk vs reward golf architecture, it isn’t hard to see why Palmira is now one of Indiana’s best places to play. Reserve your round now!
