It’s a classic Midwestern-style Parkland challenge - which means plenty of room to hit your big stick, as well as plenty of opportunities to find trouble if you aren’t careful. The hole designs are fairly straightforward, but you’d be doing this deceptively difficult course a disservice if you took this to mean things are easy – they certainly are not.

The fairways tend to run on the tight side, with mature trees lining the roughs of just about every landing area. Bunkers are prevalent, mostly around the greens, and water, though beautiful, does come into play on several of the course's holes. With all of these opportunities for lost balls and penalty strokes, it’s clear that the name of the game at Shelby is accuracy and consistency. Make a plan to play fairly conservatively and stick to it, and you might be surprised at how low your score is when you walk off of 18.
