Wolf Hollow at Water Gap Country Club
Play one of Pennsylvania’s historic championship courses with today’s feature: $25 for 18 Holes with Cart and Range Balls at Wolf Hollow at Water Gap Country Club in Delaware Water Gap ($65 Value. Expires June 15, 2018!)
Golf is a game of tradition. What sets golf apart from so many other popular sports is the relatively unchanged nature of the way the game is played – and the reverence for the beautiful canvasses on which we play it. A golf course that challenged Walter Hagen so many years ago would, too, challenge your game. Expert designs never go out of style, in fact, often times they improve with age. All of this comes together on this week’s featured course: Wolf Hollow at the Water Gap Country Club.
Designed and constructed in 1922 by Robert White (one of the founders of the PGA and organization president), Wolf Hollow was built with spectacular golf in mind. Just a one hour drive from the heart of Philadelphia and less than two from the Big Apple, Wolf Hollow has a storied history which includes playing host to the Eastern Open for three consecutive years. Now, after years of vacancy following World War II, Wolf Hollow has surpassed its previous glory and become one of the most beautiful golf destinations in the Northeast.
Surrounded by over 180 acres of incredible countryside, Robert White’s layout perfectly intermixes the natural challenge and esthetics of the Poconos. This 6,200-yard course may not play as long as some, but the constant elevation changes and hilly terrain offer plenty of challenge to the golfer of any skill or ability level. The greens here are in excellent condition and will roll fast and true with plenty of undulation. With only two par-5s and seven short par-4s, a good score at Wolf Hollow comes from expert course management, precise shot-making ability, and the guts to take a risk and go for the green.
Although the golf course itself is a thing of beauty, the Water Gap Country Club has plenty of amenities that you’re not going to want to miss. A full service resort, fine dining options, fully stocked pro shop, and more are all on site at Water Gap. The knowledgeable staff will make sure that whether you’re there for a stay and play weekend, or a round of 18, Wolf Hollow will be a playing experience you won’t soon forget!
