Located almost directly halfway between Syracuse and Utica, Oneida’s historic layout is one of Upstate’s finest rounds of golf. Fairways are built from the natural rolling hills of the undulated countryside, presenting stunning postcard-like picturesque views from nearly every tee and green. Water is in play thanks to the meandering creek that winds its way throughout the course, and tall mature trees from the lush wooded landscape punish errant shots that don’t quite hit the mark. Along with avoiding these hazards, your best bet at shooting a low score here is bringing your “A” game with your putter, as the greens here are known as some of the area’s best. Keep three putts to a minimum, and you just might have a chance at shooting one of your lower scores of the year.
