With water, sand bunkers, areas of elevation, and some tricky hole layouts all in play, first-timers must create a course management plan on the fly, and execute accordingly, if they want to end the day with a score they can convincingly brag about to family and friends.

Though each hole on Big Cypress’ South Course will find unique ways to test your game, it’s the course’s signature challenge, the par-4 18th hole, that might just be the most significant. Playing a lengthy 398 yards from the back set of tees (of which there are four for your convenience), the long hitters in your group can either choose to try and sneak up on the 100-yard marker by staying right off the tee, or reel it in and play this deceptive hole more like a par-5 with two layups. Either way, 18 is the final step between you and a low score on the day – so be sure to plan your shots accordingly to keep your score low.

Though the South Course is certainly the centerpiece of today’s feature, there are plenty of additional reasons to head over to Big Cypress – mainly, the North Course.
