Originally opened in the late 1960s with a design by Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Hagge, The Club at Emerald Hills’ 18-hole course has matured into a truly superb layout. The fairways of this gorgeous 7,800-yard course (yes, you read that right), are cut beautifully through the South Florida landscape, and feature a variety of challenge from both the minds of Devlin and Hagge, as well as Mother Nature. Like most Florida courses, water is heavily in play and runs parallel to many of the course’s fairways – so do your best to stay dry. 40 contoured bunkers protect both landing areas and greens making accuracy vastly important, and the consistent change in elevation will have you second-guessing some of your yardages. But don’t fret: When played from one of the six other sets of tees, and approached with the respect a layout rated 78.6/148 deserves, you might just find yourself scoring low on the day – that is, of course, if you can stay out of the water.
