Founded in 1913 and currently operating as the oldest golf course in Livingston County, Dwight Country Club’s 6,300-yard masterpiece is definitely a thing of beauty. Perfectly laid out on one of the finest converted cornfields in Central Illinois, Dwight’s challenging and water-heavy layout spells a true test for even the most experienced golfer.

Water, water everywhere, you’re gonna get wet – at least you will if you’re not careful to properly execute shots on Dwight’s water-filled layout. The course length is manageable at 6,300 yards from the back set of tees, but the impressive layout sports significant water hazards on more than half of the holes – making it quite the challenge for the player who tends to spray it left or right. Mature trees and bunkers are also in the way of a good score here, but they’ll require far less of your undivided attention than the H20.

One of the course’s signature holes, the par-3 9th, is the perfect representation of how your round at Dwight may go. Moderately long from the back tees at 140 yards, this challenge features water on both sides of the fairway and a small well-protected green at the end. In order to have a chance at par or better here, players must learn to put all that water out of their mind and focus on properly executing their shots. Do this on #9, and throughout the rest of the layout, and Dwight’s exquisite 18 may just reward you with a generous score on the day.
