The Golf Club at Blue Heron Hills
Come play an Empire State staple with today’s feature: $25 for 18 Holes with Cart at The Golf Club at Blue Heron Hills in Macedon near Rochester ($56 Value. Expires November 1, 2019!)
What you’ll find when you step out onto the first tee at today’s feature course, The Golf Club at Blue Heron Hills in Macedon, is a course like no other you’ve ever played before. Originally designed and opened for play in 1987, the Golf Club became known as one of the premier private clubs in New York – and only improved when the Golden Bear himself made some course-improving suggestions after his sold-out exhibition round. The result of the combined genius of Jack and original architects Pete Craig and former Oak Hill superintendent Dick Bator, is a course that features a hybrid of design styles and a myriad of challenges, with no parallel fairways and no two holes playing quite the same.
Featuring five different sets of tees to help adjust the difficulty of the course to match any player’s skill level, the key to shooting a low score here is proper course management and balancing risk versus reward. The course features abundant areas of water that not only wreak havoc for golfers that can’t seem to avoid the H20, but also helps to keep the course in prime condition throughout the season. Greens here are very large and very undulated, helping to earn Blue Heron its reputation for having some of the best, and most challenging, putting surfaces anywhere in the area. Playing just over 6,700 yards from the back set of tees and carrying a course/slope rating of 72.9/127, the Golf Club at Blue Heron Hills is sure to provide one of your best playing experiences of the year.
Though you’ll certainly find most of Blue Heron Hills’ beauty out on the golf course, the clubhouse is definitely worth a second look. Designed by noted architect Robert Macon, this gorgeous two-story masterpiece features ceiling-to-floor windows that overlook the course. With a banquet facility on the upper level, and a fully stocked pro shop and pub-style restaurant on the ground level, the clubhouse features everything you need to cap off your day of fun.
