Though the course itself is far from easy, the layout is actually fairly forgiving thanks to its well-rounded design. Mature trees do line many of the fairways, but they also allow for a bit of miss left or right without completely punishing your score. Sand bunkers are another major source of challenge here, and steering clear of them means concentrating hard on your approach shots and executing your game plan for the day. Do this, and you might just walk away from Westport with one of your lower rounds in some time.

As you make your way through the back nine, you’ll have the pleasure of taking on Westport’s signature hole: the par-4 12th. Rated as being among the the most beautiful and historic golf courses in the entire Upstate area, the hole meanders downhill through a well-defined tunnel of mature Adirondack pines, and finishes in a natural amphitheater green setting. Your tee shot must be long and your approach shot must accurately traverse a free-flowing natural creek if you want to hit the green in regulation – which is often a challenge. Though 12 is certainly the highlight hole on Westport, it’s one of 18 beautiful tests that await you during your round.
