Though golf has been a part of American culture for well over one hundred years, it wasn’t until the 1920s and 1930s that the classic courses we still revere today really took shape. Today’s feature course Delaware Park Golf Course in the great City of Buffalo, now in it’s 90th year of serving the community, is one of those historic stand out courses. Featuring 18 holes of challenging, straight-forward parkland-style golf and plenty of great amenities, it’s obvious why Delaware Park has been a favorite of locals and visitors alike for nearly a century.
Playing a manageable 5,300 yards from the back set of tees, mastering Delaware Park’s elegant layout is all about controlling your game and perfecting your shots. The holes are fairly open, but the recently renovated sand bunkers allow for a fair bit of challenge for even the most skilled golfers in your group.
Landing areas are tight, thanks to the large mature trees that line almost every fairway on the course. The greens are also small and rounded - a true relic of the time they were designed and built. You’ll need accuracy off of the tee, precise shots with your long clubs and wedges, and a hot putter if you want to score well on the day, so be sure not to take anything, or any hole, for granted during your round.
Cared for and managed by the Buffalo Olmsted Park’s Conservancy, Delaware Park is one of three fantastic golf courses within the 850 acre Olmsted Park System. Cazenovia Park and South Park also have classic and challenging 9 hole golf courses. Always beautifully conditioned and expertly managed, the Conservancy’s course are some of the areas finest places to play.
A great course with a great reputation for fun, Delaware Park is a must-play for anyone in the Buffalo area. Don’t wait - reserve your round now!
