Located smack-dab in the middle of the state, today’s feature course, Waushara Country Club, offers Wisconsinite golfers one of the best places to play in the entire midwest. One aspect of Waushara CC that truly makes the facility unique are the three nine hole courses, rotated daily, that combine to create an unforgettable 18 no matter which you play.

The Lakeview 9, playing just over 3,100 yards from the back set of tees, is the longest of the three, but actually offers one of your best chances for picking up strokes on the day. Featuring elevated tees and greens set upon a fairly straightforward layout, Lakeview combines straightforward Parkland-style challenge along with an “up north” feel into one unforgettable nine-hole track.

The Bridges 9, playing not quite as long as Lakeview at 3,101 from the tips, is Waushara’s true risk-vs-reward layout. Whether you’re playing on the reachable par-5s or the intimidating par-3s, accuracy here is of the utmost importance, as challenge of all kinds lurks just around every corner. Be sure to pay special attention when you approach the par-3 7th, one of the course’s signature holes, as this island-green test plays much more difficult than it looks at just 154 yards.

Finally, it’s Waushara’s Westwoods 9 that plays as the course’s most challenging collection of holes. Stretching the shortest of the three nines at just 3,092 from the longest tees, Westwoods starts you deep in the woods and eventually leads you out to two long par-5s and two par-3s that demand accuracy off of the tee to avoid the water and sand. Be sure to double-check your distances here, as too short of a club choice will lead to a penalty stroke more often than not.

Though it’s Waushara’s wonderful 27-hole course that is the true star of the show, the amenities offered at the club are certainly nothing to scoff at. You can enjoy warming up your game on the course’s full practice facility including driving range; updating what’s in your bag at the pro shop; or refueling with delicious snacks and drinks at the clubhouse snack bar.
